I'm gonna make the links short and sweet. Today is Andy's birthday and we're going to Lilly's Bistro. I'm pretty excited. I've always wanted to check it out and I've only been there for dessert, but it was phenomenal. So here's to hoping Andy has a great birthday dinner!

Sluggish Economy, Good Eats - Sometime we have to pinch those pennies. This is the resource that shows you how, and still lets you eat pretty decent.
Chocolate Goo - Eat it by the spoonfuls. Ball it up, pop it in. Who cares what you do with it, it's chocolate-y, and goo-ey, so eat it!
Restaurant Coupons - I don't eat at many chain restaurants, but if I did, I'd use these coupons. Then the meals would actually be worth what I'm getting. (can you tell I'm cynical about these kind of places?)
20 Healthy Food For Under $1 - Can you tell there's kind of a theme with this week's links? While the things on this list aren't necessarily under $1, cost per serving when used is under $1. Kind of misleading, but at the same time, it's a good list of stuff!
I guess I kind of had to make up for spending a whole bunch of money tonight on dinner with links that would remind me how to be frugal in the next week or so! =) Enjoy!

What a week. I've been a pretty cynical person all week, and I must say, I'm so glad it's Friday. I need to just chill out for a couple days and find an outlet to relieve all this stress! I know... cook! I'm happy that it's about to be my week to cook because it always seems to be the only true moment when I can't complain about ANYTHING. Anybody feel the same way???

Lumpia - What's Lumpia? Well... it's the Filipino version of eggrolls, which in my opinion are the only way eggrolls should be made. This is pretty much to the tee how my mother makes these and am so surprised and glad I stumble upon this blog!
Food Time Line - Ever wonder when some of our favorite foods came into existence? Well this food time line is a loose basis for that! I still can't believe ice cream was invented before fried chicken.
Dexter Slides - Ever watch the show Dexter? Well he's this serial killer who likes to keep these slides of a drop of each of his victim's blood. Cool idea for a halloween treat right? Right.
Bill Cosby Portrait - not only is this a portrait of Bill Cosby... but it's entirely made up of jell-o shots. How humorous is that. I thought so.
Tiramisu - this has got to be one of my favorite desserts and Pioneer Woman just goes into such in-depth detail on it that I had to share. I want some now!

This week has been great. 6 course birthday dinner on tuesday was amazing. I couldn't ask for a better birthday. And... Andy got me an Immersion Blender which I've been wanting for FOREVER! Links!
This has been a pretty crazy week. Pharmacy school application is in the mail, now it's just a waiting game. I'll pretty much be stressed out to the core until I hear something. Cooking is the only thing to keep me sane right now, I suppose. Here's the links for this week....
Conversion Tables - I printed this out this week because I think it's a handy reference tool. There's a lot of recipes online that use the metric system as opposed to our customary U.S. system and I always end up having to Google the conversions because for some reason they don't stick in my head. So this table comes in pretty handy!
Stir Fry Sauces - The title says it all. This shows 6 different stir fry sauce styles, that are pretty versatile for any bunch of ingredients. Especially since stir fry is one of those quick and easy meals, it's good to spice it up a bit... I definitely recommend the Lobster sauce!!!
Pumpkin Cupcakes With Maple Cream Cheese Frosting - It's October and pumpkin is pretty much a main stay! So why not make these delicious looking cupcakes! I'm sure the frosting is something you'd want to eat all by itself but remember to but it on the cupcakes!!
Cook's Illustrated - Definitely a great resource for anything in the kitchen. Keep the food publications alive! Subscribe to your favorite magazine today, regardless of what it may be!
Cheesecake With Whiskey Butter Sauce - cheesecake? whiskey? Who ever thought of putting the two together? Two great indulgences wrapped into one package!

I must say, this week has been a little bit better than last. Not as busy, and not as stressful. Although my Organic Chemistry test kind of pissed me off. I got a C, borderline B- and it was all mistakes I could have avoided if I just read the damn question properly. Oh well, you live and learn. I have 3 lab reports and a Physics test all on Monday so it should be a joy this weekend I'm sure. Anyway, enough ranting... on to the links!

So yeah, I understand that with my first links post a couple weeks ago, I did say every other Friday... and now it's Saturday. But to my defense, this week has been utterly hellish. Food is the only thing that is keeping me going, so I apologize for the lateness, and on to the links!
Basic Marinara Sauce - This is just a very simple, easy marinara. I like it because it's just the base so you can pretty much add anything you want and have it come out to your personal liking!
Skull Wedding Cakes - Creepy or cool? Very unique, that's for sure!
20 Food Inventions We Could Have Done Without - Goes through a list of certainly odd concoctions that have hit the grocery store shelves... I must say, some of the stuff, like candy cigarettes, aerosol cheese, and oscar meyer cheesedogs, were some of my favorite things as a child!

So, like many of you, I continuously look for inspiration on the internet, TV, newspaper... ANYTHING! I've got food on the brain 24/7 it seems. So from now on, every other Friday (mainly because it's Andy's grocery week and I don't get to cook any meals) I'm going to feature some links that have kept me busy in my non-cooking week. Enjoy!
Not Without Salt - Recipe for homemade marshmallows! Great with hot cocoa ( I know hot stuff really isn't the thing to think about in the heat of summer, but on a rainy day... you never know)
Tastestopping - "Not sharp/unflattering composition" Those words make me CRINGE! This is a sight that posts pictures that the other sites won't. Equal opportunity posting.
The Daily Kitten - Some great everyday tips that everyone should now. Some are a little wacky, but some are really informative!
Top Secret Recipes - This guy demonstrates how to get KFC chicken! I'm a sucker for fried chicken so this was good. Also, many other chain restaurants' (even though I hate chain restaurants) meals exposed.
Peach Cakes - These little cakes look just like a real peach! Great practical joke or delicious treat!
