Reasons why Tuesday is awesome...

Source

#1.  I'm officially on Summer vacation from school.  I'm also officially "done" with my college career, in general.  Well, until I start Culinary School in September - which is something I am much too excited about.

#2.  In all of my 25 years of existence and girlhood, I have never received a manicure nor a pedicure.  And today, at 2pm, I'm checking that off the list.  Yeah, my girl friends are majorly excited about this.  Me?  I could take it or leave it - but at least I can say I've done it.

#3.  Today is the day before our CSA starts.  I heard rumors from their Facebook page that we should be getting some Strawberries & Head Lettuce - the Asparagus has been "drowned" out by all of this rain!  And I'll also take this moment to do a little PR for CSA's in general.

What is a CSA?  Community-Supported Agriculture.  It's supporting your local farmers.  It's getting fresh from the farm produce every week (or bi-weekly, sometimes).  It's reducing your carbon footprint.  And it's definitely worth a look.  To see if your area provides a CSA, check out Local Harvest and just punch in your zip code, and more than likely, there's a CSA near you to join!  And if you're in the Louisville, KY area, I highly recommend the CSA we do, Grasshopper Distribution - they have several pick-up spots around the city, and even work with you to customize your own pick-up spot if none of their chosen ones work!

Are you guys involved in a CSA?

Have a great rest of your Tuesday guys!!

  1. I can't wait for our CSA to start next week! However, they've already warned us with all the rain that they're slow growing thus far. They haven't been able to move the plants from the greenhouse to the ground yet, so it may be a few weeks before we get a hearty share. I love that the baskets force me out of my comfort zone and make me eat more veggies!

  3. Yay for summer break! That sounds nice...when kids are in summer break it becomes "oh no what should we do?!"... Anyway, congrats on finishing school, and I also can't wait for your culinary school so you can tell us all about it! And I didn't know about CSA - I'll be checking it out the site after here. Enjoy your mani & pedi! I don't do mani because I get depressed when my nails get messed up after cooking etc. But you deserve a break and fun!

  4. I also have never had a manicure nor a pedicure, doubt if it will happen now unless I am incapable of doing it myself :-) Diane

  9. Yes, our CSA started last week. But to tell you the truth, I have no idea what to do with all those collard greens busting from the fridge right now! I guess it really pushes you to cook! :)
I would love to have a mani-pedi, unfortunately I have not had time for a long time! Enjoy your time!

  11. I've never done a CSA because there are none around me, but I do love me some pedicures. Manicures, not so much, but pedicures are essential!

  12. I had a pedicure once and hated the entire experience. Hopefully it works out better for you.
