A Day in the Life...

First of all, I'd like to thank Victoria over at Mission: Food for awarding me the Stylish Blogger Award.  If you haven't been over to Mission: Food, I highly recommend it.  Victoria makes awesome treats and definitely makes me want to pack my bags and move to NYC just to eat at all the crazy good places that Victoria eats.

I figured for today's post I would kind of explain what I do on a productive day.  My most productive day of the week is most definitely Sundays.  I'm usually off of work and so is Andy so we get to run all of the errands we have to run on Sunday (i.e grocery shopping).  So without further ado... a typical Sunday for yours truly...

I wake up to this smiling face.  Andy usually gets up before me and I usually find him studying some IT related thing - he tells me, but honestly, it goes in one and ear and out the other - I'm a bad fiance =)
I check my e-mail, Foodbuzz, etc. etc.
We hop in the Jeep to run around town - it was kind of a drab and rainy Sunday this past week
First stop - Whole Foods
We worked up a hunger after Whole Foods, so we ended up stopping at Moe's for lunch - which I personally think is a tad bit better than Qdoba
I got the Fat Sam fajita plate... the chicken was a little dry, but other than that, pretty good.
I caught him off guard - I think he's in mid-chew.
Then to Kroger for the rest of the grocery shopping - and yes, I usually do sit in the car and watch Andy load the car.  It was raining, so I wasn't about to sit out in that =)
Got home and took the trash out to the back and noticed my garden plot was lookin' in need of some cleaning (trust me, you don't want to see the before picture) - especially since I ordered my seeds/plants last week, so I've got to be prepared!  And I might expand this little plot to double - and yes, my backyard needs some raking, but that's Andy's job, not mine. =)
Came inside and baked a loaf of bread.

Finally sat down to study some Spanish

And of course, this is when I usually get warn out from the day - and it's only 2 or 3 pm by this time, can you believe it?

Of course I did other things, like some cleaning of the kitchen and our bedroom, cook dinner, and sleep... but I was way to tired to take any more pictures, hehe.

Exhausting, I tell you!

What about you guys?  What's your most productive day of the week?  How do you spend your Sundays?

He's a Keeper

I've got a pretty busy morning.  2 tests today.  One in Spanish (which I'm sure will be quite a breeze) and the other in Biochem (not such a breeze).

The only plus is that the one in Biochem is open book/open note.  But that just means it's going to be all the more hard.  No easy peasy question on that one, I'm sure.

So it's going to be a rather short post, I just wanted to share with you my Valentine's Day card from Andy.  He's such a goober, but I love him all the more for it!  (And p.s. he had a job interview for a System Analyst position yesterday morning and by the end of the day got another call for a 2nd interview!  I'm so proud of my little grown up!)

He's just the sweetest, isn't he? =)
Have a great Tuesday guys!

Snow Day Dos!

Thank you, Snow.
Well, another snow day.  I'm kind of glad this time.  I really wasn't feeling going to class tonight.

Although, I haven't been completely lazy since I've been home from work.

I've been watching Big.  You know, Tom Hanks.  He's pretty cool, in my opinion.  And Big... it's actually one of my favorite movies, even if it is somewhat cheesy.

And I'm making tomato soup.  I figure, with all the snow, I'm in a soup mood.  And what goes great with tomato soup?  Grilled cheese, of course!  I just love dipping it in the soup!  Way delicious!  Anybody else do that?  Or am I just weird?

Oh, and to top it all off... I'll be buried in Biochemistry notes for the next few days.  Must. Do. Well.
Positive thinking should get me through right?  Right.

Anyway... have a great rest of your Thursday guys!  Me, Tom Hanks, and Biochemistry will be having a date night. =)

The pictures are colorful... but the information, not so much. =)

P.S.  My sister hooked me up with a media pass to Desserts First (basically a Louisville event that has a bunch of Louisville chef's making desserts out of Girl Scout Cookies... sounds pretty awesome to me!)  And I get to take pictures that may end up in her article!  Meaning I may get a "by-line" by my photos if they're good enough!  Cool, eh!  Will update you guys further when I know more!

Things To Be Excited About...

I've got some great news!

I took the plunge and ordered a Lowel EGO Light!  And I can't wait for it to arrive!  Tabletop lighting is amazing, and I'm hoping this will definitely bring my photography to a whole new level because of course, lighting is a MAJOR part!  And I'm hoping I can get away with only 1, but if I have to get another to get even better photos, I'm willing to make the monetary sacrifice.  Any insight on those of you who have one or a pair of these?

And another good note... I've got a 3 day weekend!  Yup, Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday off!  And I will definitely need it because classes start back up on Monday, and I'm just. not. ready.   Why can't I get my degree by sitting at home?  Well... maybe that would be awful actually.  I can't really stay at home too long without getting bored.  So I guess I'll suffer through this semester's Spanish, Computer, and BioChem classes.  It won't be so bad, right?  Right.

And one more exciting thing... I'm finally getting my hair cut tomorrow!  Of course this is just a trim and the usual coloring of some sort, but I haven't been able to get to the salon for 4 months!  4 months!  So my hair is super long (and major split ends, and not mention my bangs are DRIVING. ME. NUTS.)  So yes, after 1:30 tomorrow, I will be in hair heaven.  Yup.  Hair Heaven.

Anyway, I'm off to go make some delicious shrimp tacos for dinner.  See you all tomorrow for a delicious recipe to cap off the week!

Random Good Luck

So here are just some random thoughts for Tuesday's post...

Anybody superstitious?  They say that Black Eyed Peas are supposed to bring good luck when eaten on New Year's Day.  Did I eat them on New Year's Day?  Sadly, no.  But am I superstitious?  Again, that's a big negative.  So in my own fashion, I've decided to make black eyed peas tonight for dinner, because it's always better late than never, right?  And plus... I find myself pretty lucky as it is, so I don't need any age old tradition to boost that!

Guess what I got in the mail today?

Yeah, I'm officially a Zombie Nerd.  Okay, I wouldn't go that far, but this is this month's book club book.  And hell, with the addition of zombies, I'm sure Pride & Prejudice will be a much better read... not that I have read the original to compare this one to, so honestly, I really don't know.  But I'm actually really looking forward to this one.

And yes, I'll end today's absolutely random post by showing you how I wake up and go to bed every night.  Yep... with this girl.  in my face.  with a toy.  thank goodness this one no longer squeaks.

Have a great Tuesday guys and I'll be back tomorrow with something edible!!

Even the Dogs are Festive

I've still got tons of baking/treat making to do over the next few days so I thought I'd leave you guys with some cute pictures of our dogs.

Even they wanted to be festive for the holidays!

All she wants to do is eat the sticks.

Mr. Jangles

"mom, seriously.  why do i have to wear this sweater?"

sniff sniff sniff

"I'm pretty GQ, mom"

Kinda looks like they're in jail.

Happy Holidays guys!

Do you dress up your dogs?

I don't think I've ever believed...

He's just a little too "jolly"
... in Santa.  Weird, huh?

Such a cute tin, if I do say so myself.

I mean, I could be wrong.  But I thought about it today.  Did I ever really get excited about that fat man in red?  I remember leaving cookies and milk out.  I remember that.  But did I ever leave them out for him.  Or did I just know that my dad would eat them anyway?

I thought I'd insert a random 'dog on the back deck depressed because the snow is melting' photo

It's driving me nuts that I can't remember this.  Family?  Fill me in, please.

Some goodies lie amidst that tissue paper!
Maybe I am just a scrooge.

Can anyone guess what these are?

Let's not think about that.  I don't need ghosts of Christmas past, Christmas present, and Christmas future showing up at my doorstep.  I've got way to much goodie-making to do.
